Eurosport to Broadcast Tour De France Winner Sir Bradley Wiggins’ Attempt to Break Legendary UCI Hour Record

Singapore/Paris, 3 June 2015 – Eurosport, the leading pan-regional sports entertainment destination, today announced that it will be the broadcast partner for the UCI Hour Record of four time Olympic gold medallist and Britain’s first Tour de France winner, Sir Bradley Wiggins (CBE). Cycling fans can watch Wiggins’ efforts on Eurosport across Europe and Asia Pacific, and on an exclusive basis in France, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Poland and Spain, on Sunday, June 7 at 7:30 p.m. CET/Monday, June 8 at 1:00 a.m. SIN/HK.

The UCI Hour record, infamous among cycling and sports fans for its gruelling intensity, measures the furthest distance a rider can cycle on a track within an hour. In February, Briton Alex Dowsett set the current record of 52.937 km, which was also broadcast live on Eurosport.

Fans can tune in to Eurosport to experience the event which will take place in the Lee Valley VeloPark in London, the home of track cycling for the London 2012 Olympic Games. Besides showing every minute of Wiggins’ hour record, Eurosport’s coverage will include interviews with special guests from 7:15 p.m. CET/1:15 a.m. SIN/HK, which will be shown immediately after the event.

Tickets to the much-anticipated event sold out in just 15 minutes with fans eager to see if Wiggins will be able to set a long-standing record, far from the reach of any challengers. This individual hour record is part of Wiggins’ build-up to Rio 2016 with his new all-British cycling team – WIGGINS, which was formed to facilitate his ambitions to win Olympic gold next year.

Eurosport is the Home of Cycling and will broadcast a total of 1,800 hours of cycling in 2015. The Tour de France, Giro d’Italia, Vuelta a España and the greatest Classics are among the 23 UCI World Tour races, and part of the list of over 40 events broadcast on Eurosport.
