There is always plenty of hype regarding CES and disruptive technologies – some is justified, and some is not. One of the most hyped products from CES not mentioned in this article was Occulus Rift’s “Crystal Cove” Virtual Reality Headset. Virtual Reality, and the Crystal Cove Headset, promises a dramatic leap in simulated movement technology and fully-immersive entertainment. This sounds incredible, and it could represent an entirely new dynamic for not only gaming, but home entertainment in general. Unfortunately, it seems the technology, while evolving, is still many years away from widespread availability and affordability. This article raises an important point that seems especially relevant to Virtual Reality, if there is very little content, how valuable is the technology?

Amidst all the hype for all sorts of devices, are enough content creators being incentivised to cater to the multiple new platforms being rolled out?
