Jail Terms for Australian Pirates

Father-and-son sellers of pirate pay-TV smart cards were recently convicted by a court in Sydney. The father got sentenced to a jail term, while the son was fined. The Australian pay-TV association welcomed the stiff sentences. See the press release here.

ASTRA welcomes the AFPs latest operation against piracy
Apr 16 - ASTRA, Australias leading body representing the subscription television (STV) sector, today welcomed a national anti-piracy operation by The Australian Federal Police (AFP), which is taking a leading role in combating piracy of STV. The AFPs operation has been conducted in partnership with the STV industry and has resulted in the execution of ten search warrants today against alleged perpetrators of STV criminal activity in NSW, Victoria and Queensland.

FOXTEL awarded $1 million in groundbreaking piracy case
