Tuesday, 03 July 2012

Japan’s MIC announced at a June conference in Tokyo a “Smart TV” program, to incentivize integration of broadcasting and internet applications.  The program, launching with demonstration experiments in FY 2012 and 2013, foresees increased seamless interaction between video-enabled devices ranging from phones to TV sets, and smooth movement of content around this new ecology.   Cooperative development of the concepts and related equipment in developing-country markets (e.g. in Southeast Asia) is foreseen.
