Australia- STV Rev up 10%+

Petra Buchanan, Chief Executive Officer, ASTRA announced that net advertising revenues for subscription television (STV) grew by 10.08% from financial year 2011 to 2012. The Ernst & Young report compiled for ASTRA found net advertising revenues of $211,245,167 from 1 January 2012 to 30 June 2012, which is an increase of 17.31% from the previous corresponding period, and comprises a total of $424,807,125 in advertising revenue for STV in financial year 2012.

“Subscription television continues to provide a targeted audience for advertisers with increased advertising expenditure, up 10.08% from financial year 2011 to 2012. A strong programming line-up of premium and exclusive content paired with innovative services and products enables advertisers to reach their desired audience. We continue to see opportunities even in a cautious market,” said Buchanan.

Subscription TV reaches over seven million people on a weekly basis, with advertising revenue up more than 41.4% since 2008.
