Homeland, Modern Family Win Big at Emmys

 Modern Family won for best comedy at last night's Emmy Awards, with creator Steve Levitan scoring a nod for his work directing the series, andHomeland took the award for best drama.

 In total, Game of Thrones and Homeland tied for the most awards, with six each. Game Change,Hatfields & McCoys and Modern Family followed with five wins each.

For comedy, Jon Cryer won for Two and a Half Menas outstanding lead actor, while Veep's Julia Louis-Dreyfus won in the female best performance category. Supporting nods both went to Modern Family stars, Eric Stonestreet and Julie Bowen.

In the drama segment, Claire Danes landed the win for Homeland as outstanding lead actress, while Homeland's Damian Lewis was the outstanding lead actor winner. Downton Abbey's Maggie Smith won for outstanding supporting actress in a drama. Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul took the win for supporting actor in a drama. Outstanding writing in a drama went to Alex Gansa, Howard Gordon and Gideon Raff for Homeland. The directing win in the category went to Tim van Patten for Boardwalk Empire.
