US pay TV faces ‘accelerating decline’

US pay TV operators are facing an increasingly tough battle to retain customers, according to analysts – who say subscriber cancellations have accelerated rapidly over recent months.

The annual rate of customers cancelling their subscriptions and leaving the pay TV sector, known as cord cutting, was around 0.1% last year but media analyst firm MoffettNathanson says that figure now stands at around 0.7%.

Analysts Craig Moffett and Michael Nathanson said the pay TV industry had lost more than 500,000 subscriptions between April and June this year and added that the “decline is accelerating.”http://www.c21media.net/us-pay-tv-faces-accelerating-decline/?utm_source=C21Media&utm_campaign=9fcad207b4-&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_3bb765a3f7-9fcad207b4-294373966
