Thaicom boosts capacity ahead of Thaicom 6 launch

(May 14, 2013) Thaicom will provide interim satellite services in advance of its Thaicom 6 satellite launch, to serve the growing demand of Thailand’s broadcasters.

“Realising the needs of our customers, we have acquired an interim satellite to provide services at 78.5 degrees East orbital slot well ahead of the launch of Thaicom 6.,” Suphajee Suthumpun, CEO and executive chairman, said in a statement. “Such interim satellite, according to the plan, can commence services in late of July.”

CTH acquires rights to 24 Fox channels

(May 14, 2013) Cable Thai Holding (CTH), the newly established cable TV operator, has acquired the broadcast rights to 24 channels from FOX International Channels (FIC) to strengthen its content line-up.

Krissanan Ngampatipong, CEO of CTH, said the additional channels will be launched in two phases. The first phase will go on air next month with 15 channels while nine other channels will be added later this year with highlights from FOX Movies Premium, Fox Family Movie and National Geographic.

Turkey’s SinemaTV inks output deal with NBCU

The Association’s comprehensive forum on the thriving satellite market in the Asia-Pacific will examine An Industry in Transition this year, highlighting key issues top-of-mind with stakeholders in the region.

Broadcasting Network joins IPTV and broadband fray by offering lower prices

(May 10, 2013) The new digital cable TV operator, Asian Broadcasting Network (M) Sdn Bhd (ABN) is dangling high speed broadband (HSBB) and digital cable TV services at prices that are lower than the competition.

Its two competitors are Telekom Malaysia Bhd, which offers HSBB and Internet Protocol television (IPTV) services via its UniFi and HyppTV respectively, and Maxis Bhd/Astro which have forged a partnership to offer IPTV and broadband services.

AXN Premieres The Apprentice Asia
