Celestial Pictures Appoints Jeffrey Soong as MD Taiwan

[January 5, 2011 – HONG KONG] Acknowledging the growing potential of Taiwan’s media industry, Celestial Pictures, the Chinese motion picture company and operator of regional pay-TV channels, announced today the appointment of Jeffrey Soong as Managing Director of its newly opened Taiwan office. 

Celestial Pictures will utilize a local presence in Taiwan to expand the distribution of its channels, develop film and TV series co-productions, explore new media licensing opportunities and raise its profile in Taiwan’s entertainment scene. 

Jeffrey Soong will lead the Taiwan operation and work closely with Celestial’s management team in its Hong Kong headquarters as well as its Beijing branch office to achieve the company’s strategic goals. He will report to Ross Pollack, CEO of Celestial Pictures. 

“Taiwan’s important role in Chinese entertainment is unquestioned and as a Chinese content company, it is imperative we have a local presence there. We are fortunate to have Jeffrey join our senior management team. With Jeffrey’s proven record of achievements, his commercial acumen and all-around media experience, he will be a valuable asset to Celestial Pictures as we expand our businesses in Taiwan,” said Ross. 

A veteran of the media industry both in the U.S. and Asia, Soong was most recently CEO and Managing Director of Infinio Group Limited. At Infinio, he successfully led the transition of the Group from a private trade schools operator to a media solutions and services provider listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange. 

Soong’s extensive experience in media, technology, content creation and distribution, also includes a role as CEO and President of SVP International Corporation. Based in Los Angeles, SVP International produced and distributed feature films and TV programs. During his tenure at SVP International, Soong drove sales of U.S. productions to leading Asian broadcasters and cable channels. Soong also participated in numerous co-production and pre-sales deals. In addition, under Soong’s leadership, SVP International was charged with programming two pan-Asian Chinese language DTH channels.
