CNN Indonesia Begins Broadcasting Today

From brand new state-of-the-art news facilities located in the Transmedia broadcast centre in Jakarta, CNN Indonesia offers viewers a mix of national and international news, plus the latest in business and sport in Bahasa Indonesia.

The start of CNN Indonesia TV follows the launch of CNNIndonesia.com in October last year. The digital platform is an integral component of the CNN Indonesia brand with the ability to reach Indonesians at home and abroad.

HBO acquires Sesame Street

HBO12314 August 2015 – HBO has announced a five-year deal to carry new seasons of the popular children’s show Sesame Street. The partnership will make the next five seasons of available exclusively on HBO as well as HBO Go and HBO Now, the network’s streaming services.

‘Sesame Street’ to Air First on HBO for Next 5 Seasons

The letters of the day on “Sesame Street” are H, B and O.

Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit group behind the children’s television program, has struck a five-year deal with HBO, the premium cable network, that will bring first-run episodes of “Sesame Street” exclusively to HBO and its streaming outlets starting in the fall.

The partnership, announced Thursday, will allow the financially challenged Sesame Workshop to significantly increase its production of “Sesame Street” episodes and other new programming. The group will produce 35 new “Sesame Street” episodes a year, up from the 18 it now produces. It will also create a spinoff series based on the “Sesame Street” Muppets along with another new educational series for children.

Local is the new premium as Hollywood risks being ‘oversold’

AST-logo-mag-pos-rgb 12313 August 2015 – Henry Tan, the COO of Malaysian pay-TV giant Astro, has said that locally produced content now commands a greater premium than Hollywood formats, which he says are in danger of losing their value due to piracy and being “oversold”.

In an interview with Mumbrella in Kuala Lumpur, the outspoken executive said that Astro’s content packages with local signature shows see a stronger uptake than Hollywood offerings, which are now effectively sold as add-ons.

TrueVisions revenue surges by 20% in 1H2015

TrueVisions12312 August 2015 – TrueVisions, pay-television arm of True Group, has recorded a revenue of THB5.90 billion in the first half of the year 2015, raise by 20.4% year-on-year, as compared to THB4.90 billion in the first half of the year 2014. Its service revenue and product revenue stood at THB5.82 billion and THB81 million respectively in 1H 2015. At the end of June 2015, its pay-TV subscriber base was 2.7 million.

During the second quarter of 2015, the company’s revenue has increased by 19% year-on-year due to the strong advertising growth; it rose to THB2.99 billion in 2Q 2015 as against THB2.50 billion in 2Q 2014. Subscription and installation revenue was flat at THB1.9 billion in 2Q 2015.

Launch of HBO GO on StarHub Go
Starting today, HBO’s premium proprietary content, including its wildly popular Game of Thrones series, will be available directly to consumers in Singapore without a pay TV subscription. Consumers need only the Internet and a monthly subscription to StarHub Go’s Go Premium Pack# for instant access to stream an ever-increasing catalogue of HBO and Cinemax Originals anywhere, anytime, using multiple devices*.

TVB relocates Pearl Channel’s signal frequency

TVBI 123August 11, 2015 – Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) will relocate its free-to-air channel, Pearl Channel from the Multiple Frequency Network (MFN), to the Single Frequency Network (SFN). The Communications Authority (CA) has permitted TVB for relocation of channel frequency as TVB’s existing temporary spectrum assignment of additional 1.5 Mbps capacity in the MFN for the broadcast of Jade and Pearl in high definition format expires and also to ensure higher picture quality.

This relocation of Pearl channel to SFN will free up capacity of the MFN for further upgrade of the picture quality of the Jade channel, said a media report.
