Broadcasters urged to protect C-band

Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Magazine reported on the CASBAA-led joint appeal for broadcaster support by organizations of the Asian TV industry. APB supported the appeal, saying “…broadcasters in the region should quickly make concerted efforts to lobby their national media authorities… not to succumb to pressure by the IMT crowd at WRC-2015.” Read the full article here

TRAI’s bad timing in India

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India issued a notification last month to enforce the 12- minute-per-hour limit on advertising time on TV. Why do critics think this is badly timed and might actually end up harming both consumers and the industry? Read more here

CASBAA, ABU and UNICEF are calling for entries for the 13th Asia-Pacific Child Rights Award from broadcasters and producers in the region. Programmes both for children and about children are eligible and can cover any children’s rights issue. More info here

US report: NCC failing to grow media sector in Taiwan

The National Communications Commission said that it is working on better integration of Taiwan’s telecommunications and media laws in response to U.S. reports on Taiwan’s waning media sector. Read more here
