AXN Dominates Monday Night Quantico Premieres #1 in Singapore and Malaysia

SINGAPORE (October 1, 2015) – Monday night saw AXN continue its dominance as the top English general entertainment channel in Singapore and Malaysia.[1] AXN’s highly anticipated new action thriller, Quantico, was the highest rating program of the day on English Pay TV channels and the most watched series premiere on English GE channels in the past 12 months for both territories.[2]

Quantico, which airs exclusively on AXN within 12 hours of the U.S., follows a diverse group of hotshot rookies recruited to the FBI and stars Indian superstar Priyanka Chopra. It is a highly sophisticated whodunit; with the first episode ending in a cliff-hanger, setting the tone for much more drama to come in the rest of the series.

“Quantico underscores the channel’s focus on programming defined not by a particular genre but by an overall attitude: intense, intriguing, smart and unexpected,” said Hui Keng Ang, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Sony Pictures Television Networks, Asia. “Viewers come back to the AXN brand because we tell compelling stories and feature characters that evoke emotional connections.”

During the 9:45pm Quantico premiere in Singapore, AXN was the #1 channel on StarHub dominating with a 75% share out of 15 English GE channels. Similarly in Malaysia, AXN was the #1 English channel on Astro during the 10.05pm premiere, commanding a dominant 57% share out of 10 English GE channels.

The CSI Finale bookended Quantico’s premiere and equally shared the successful momentum. During the 7.55pm debut, AXN was the #1 English channel on StarHub in its timeslot dominating with a 46% share out of 15 English GE channels. AXN also ranked as the #1 English channel on StarHub during the repeat telecast of CSI at 10.40pm, with an even higher 81% share out of the 15 English GE channels. In Malaysia, AXN ranked #1 out of 10 English GE channels with a dominant 49% share during the 8:15pm premiere.

After 15 seasons, alums William Petersen (Gil Grissom), Marg Helgenberger (Catherine Willows) and Paul Guilfoyle (Jim Brass) joined their former colleagues (Ted Dansen and Jorga Fox) to bid farewell to the award-winning forensic science series. The CSI franchise has traditionally garnered a strong fan base with the two hour finale drawing audiences across all age breaks from 15 years and above.

Monday nights are set to continue its winning formula on AXN with Ted Danson’s character DB Russell transitioning to CSI Cyber in season 2 premiering October 5, just before the second episode of Quantico.
