Asia’s choice entertainment network among women creates High Heeled Warrior Awards to celebrate women’s successes in South East Asia
23 August 2013, Singapore – Hot on the heels of NBCUniversal’s highly successful High Heeled Warriors research roadshow to advertisers and media buyers, the network has announced its plans to roll out the inaugural High Heeled Warrior Awards in the next few months. The High Heeled Warrior Awards will recognize and celebrate the achievements of women in Asia who have contributed to society in their industry and community and have made an impact in the lives of many around them.
Through its extensive research on contemporary pay-television women in Asia, NBCUniversal has established that Asian women are doing it all: they are educated, independent and success-oriented; they have high expectations of themselves and their careers and still hold onto their traditional family values. The Awards will honour women in Arts and Entertainment, Entrepreneurship and Community Service, as well as Unsung Heroes – women who have selflessly dedicated their lives and work to helping others for no personal gain or fortune.
Luxury fashion and fragrance brand Hugo Boss is lending its support to further the cause of High Heeled Warriors, where women are approaching life expectations with increasing power and capability.
Nominations for the first three categories will be shortlisted by a panel of judges. The public will be encouraged to submit nominations from 26 August to 8 September as who they think should be considered Unsung Heroes. Voting for all categories will then be opened to public from 9 to 29 September via www.highheeledwarriors.asia. Winners will be announced on-air on the network’s DIVA Universal and E!’s social media pages and online by MSN.
NBCUniversal the world’s largest entertainment company which operates popular television channels in Asia Pacific – Universal Channel, DIVA Universal, E!, Style, Syfy and 13 Street Universal is the only entertainment network that comprehensively commits to and remains relevant to the contemporary female television audience.
The investment in understanding the female Pay-TV audience in Asia has allowed the network to create distinct channel environments with topical and highly-appealing programming, creative and marketing strategies that are far-reaching with this demographic.
In December 2012, NBCUniversal commissioned research partner Ipsos to study over 3000 female participants (aged 20-44) from Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia and Hong Kong, to dissect what makes the Asian woman tick, in areas of interest such as lifestyle, travel and finance. The study was illuminated to advertisers, media buyers and the media through High Heeled Warrior presentations since mid 2013.
