Sharknado 2: The Second One To Be A Worldwide Event Across All Syfy Channels

THE NEW YORK-SET SEQUEL TO BE SIMULCAST WITH SYFY US ON 31 JULY

Singapore, 23 July 2014 – The sharks are back – and they have a global agenda. Universal Networks International, the international channels’ division of NBCUniversal, today announced that all Syfy channels across the world will premiere Sharknado 2: The Second One on Thursday, 31 July at 9:15am (SG/MY) in simulcast with Syfy US. A same day encore will also air at 10pm (SG/MY).

International Syfy viewers in 86 countries outside the US – including Australia, Asia, France, Germany, Iberia, the UK and Latin America – will all be able to tune in to the eagerly awaited Sharknado sequel from Syfy and The Asylum.

“Wherever possible we like to ensure that our international Syfy channels premiere big event programs alongside the US,” commented Steve Patscheck, Executive Vice President, Programming, Universal Networks International. “Based on the breakout success of the original – and the instant swell of enthusiasm on social media – we wanted to make Sharknado 2 a simultaneous experience for international Syfy viewers from Europe and Latin America to Asia Pacific.”

As previously announced, Ian Ziering (Beverly Hills 90210) and Tara Reid (American Pie) will reprise their roles as Fin and April while new cast members include Judah Friedlander (30 Rock), Mark McGrath (Sugar Ray lead singer), Kari Wuhrer (Sliders) and Vivica A. Fox (Kill Bill, Independence Day). Previously announced cameos include Kelly Osbourne (Fashion Police), Judd Hirsch (Numb3rs) and Andy Dick (NewsRadio).

Anthony C. Ferrante will return to direct the sequel from a screenplay by Thunder Levin, who also penned the original telepic which chomped through social media in July 2013.

In Sharknado 2: The Second One, a freak weather system turns its deadly fury on New York City, unleashing a Sharknado on the population and its most cherished, iconic sites – and only Fin and April can save the Big Apple.
