VIACOM INTERNATIONAL MEDIA NETWORKS ASIA TO LAUNCH COMEDY CENTRAL ASIA ON NOVEMBER 1
THE FIRST ALL-COMEDY NETWORK TARGETING SOUTHEAST ASIAN REGION
SINGAPORE, 5 OCTOBER 2012: Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Asia has announced the November 1 launch of Comedy Central Asia – Southeast Asia’s first 24-hour all-comedy network. Featuring a programming schedule designed for Asian viewers with original Comedy Central programming, sitcoms, stand-up and sketch comedy plus Emmy® and Peabody® award-winning content. Comedy Central Asia will air 24 hours a day, seven days a week in both standard-definition (SD) and high-definition (HD) targeting several markets throughout Southeast Asia.
With the upcoming launch of Comedy Central Asia, VIMN strengthens its offerings with its first venture into the adult-skewed entertainment space with the unique offering of 24/7 all-comedy entertainment targeting viewers aged 18 to 34 years old. Comedy Central Asia will feature both original and acquired content including Comedy Central’s global hit series The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, South Park, Workaholics, and Key & Peele, the Asia Pay-TV premiere of such titles such as Anger Management, Happily Divorced, Jo Koy Lights Out, as well as classic titles Mind Your Language and Boiling Points. Encompassing a wide variety of comedy-genres from talk-show and stand-up comedy, animated sitcom, live-action sitcom, sketch-comedy, physical and gag, Comedy Central Asia will also feature a “Best of Asia” programming block showcasing regionally acquired shows such as the Singapore-produced comedy series The Noose, which was nominated for Best Comedy in the 2011 International Emmy® Awards, and eventually locally produced content.
The full programming schedule for Comedy Central Asia as well as platforms it will be available on will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
