FIC Brings Conan to Asia, to Air on FX

FIC-NEW-LOGO-123March 24, 2015 – HONG KONG & SOUTHEAST ASIA – FOX International Channels (FIC) announced today that it has acquired exclusive pay-TV rights to the hit late-night talk show Conan, and will air it in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Southeast Asia on their channels as well as their STB and online SVoD catchup service. Having signed the deal with the studio Dynamic Television, FIC now intends to position Conan as a key tent poles on its premium TV channel, FX.  Conan will premiere on the 6th May at 11pm HK/SG.

The late-night talk show is helmed by seasoned writer, comedian and performer Conan O’Brien, who cemented his success and earned his chops while hosting Late Night With Conan O’Brien on NBC for years. O’Brien’s eponymous talk show, which premiered on November 8, 2010, now airs Monday through Thursday on TBS in the US and continues his distinct tradition of unique humour that has made him a household name. FIC will bring Conan to the region via FX within 36 hours of the show’s US broadcast, and the talk show will be seen in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Brunei, Maldives, Papua New Guinea and Fiji.

Conan’s brand of original, ground-breaking entertainment makes it a perfect fit for what has often been regarded as FX’s fearless and unconventional programming. FX offers the best in premium television, providing a home for award-winning original series and auteur cinema sought by viewers with edgy and discerning tastes. Breakthrough series featured on FX include titles such as Homeland, Penny Dreadful, and Louie, while movies that challenge conventional thinking such as Frank, Little Accidents, and House of Sand and Fog have been boldly shown on the channel’s movie block called CINEFX.

When it hits FX on the 6th May 2015 at 11pm HK/SG, Conan will air Wednesdays through Saturdays at 11pm HK/SG, 36 hours after the US broadcast. Subtitles for the talk show will be available in Chinese and Bahasa Malaysia for the first airing, with the addition of Bahasa Indonesia and Thai when the episodes are repeated on the weekend.

Brian Lau, Senior Vice President of Content & Communications at FIC, said, “Conan is a great fit for FX’s roster of edgy, critically-acclaimed shows and films.  Besides being a highly experienced and lauded host, Conan O’Brien is beloved for his eccentricity and humour, and we are proud to be the first to bring his fun, offbeat brand to viewers across Hong Kong, Taiwan and Southeast Asia.”

“It is always rewarding when we can connect someone as extraordinary as Conan with millions of fans in new markets,” said Daniel March, Managing Partner at Dynamic Television.  “For the first time Conan will be accessible on television in these critical territories and we are thankful to FOX International Channels for their commitment in the show.”
