RATS Report Presented in Singapore
On June 1, CASBAA and the newly-formed Asia Digital Alliance (ADA) co-hosted a review of the ADA’s new report on the connection between malware propagation and content piracy websites. The CASBAA-ADA audience were treated to an unnerving explanation of the world of Remote Access Trojans (RATs) and the dangers presented to young internet users. Speakers noted that youngsters, in particular, have the illusion of invulnerability; and there are a lot of malicious people using internet search, UGC and content piracy
websites. Most notably, participants found the concept of young women as “tradeable” commodities to be particularly abhorrent. The ADA report highlighted that individuals, governments and Big Internet companies should take urgent action to prevent such activities.
